Hyderabad, Nov.25 (PMI): Congress senior leader and Advisor to Telangana Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticised the BJP for turning Waqf into a communal issue ahead of the Delhi elections, accusing the party of using misinfornal issuemation and divisive politics to polarise society.
In a media statement on Monday, Shabbir Ali alleged that the BJP thrived on creating controversies, citing its focus on issues like the Hijab, NRC, CAA, and the Uniform Civil Code during previous elections. With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Shabbir Ali alleged that the BJP has now targeted Waqf to stir communal discord. He called Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statements on Waqf “misleading and deliberate attempts to sow division.” He countered Modi’s claim that Waqf has no connection to the Constitution by highlighting Articles 25, 26, and 29, which protect religious and charitable endowments. “Waqf is not a new concept or a political creation. It is a centuries-old institution codified under our Constitution to protect religious endowments for public welfare. Modi’s statements show either a lack of understanding or a deliberate attempt to mislead,” Shabbir Ali said. (PMI)
