New Delhi, Sept. 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds across several parts of the country over the coming days, with weather activity expected in Delhi, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Karnataka.
Delhi is likely to experience further rainfall, with the wet spell expected to continue until September 16. The continuing showers could affect daily commuting and outdoor activities in the national capital.
Mumbai and adjoining areas are also likely to receive more rain. The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and strong winds of 40-50 kmph in some areas. Further rainfall is expected on Tuesday, coinciding with the beginning of idol immersion processions.
In Odisha, more rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off the state’s coast during this period.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued a heavy rainfall alert for isolated areas of the state over the next 24 hours. Northern coastal districts are expected to receive intense spells of rain as the weather system advances.
The IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from September 14 to 18. Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive rainfall from September 16 to 18, while Coastal Karnataka may experience rain on September 14 and 15. North Interior Karnataka is expected to receive rainfall from September 15 to 18.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, South Interior Karnataka and Telangana are also likely to experience isolated to scattered rainfall during September 14-18.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from September 14 to 16. Similar conditions are forecast for Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the same period. Telangana is expected to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds on September 14.
The IMD has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on September 15 and 16, and over Kerala and Mahe from September 14 to 17.
The forecast indicates continued weather activity across parts of southern, eastern and western India. Residents and authorities in affected areas have been advised to monitor local weather updates and follow official advisories, particularly in coastal areas where the Odisha fishing advisory remains in effect.(pressmediaofindia.com)
