J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik reviews security situation in state

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik last night held a meeting with top officials and reviewed the prevailing security and law and order situation in the state.

A Raj Bhawan spokesperson said, Mr Malik, emphasised the need for constant ness and preparedness to deal with any eventuality. The governor’s advisors K Vijay Kumar, KK Sharma, K Skandan and Farooq Khan, and chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam attended the meeting.

Kumar, Skandan and Khan, who returned to Srinagar from Jammu after taking stock of essential services, briefed the governor about the adequacy of essential supplies and delivery of various public services to the people, including electricity, water supply and health care services.

The governor stressed the need for ensuring the safety of the general public and advised the administration to give due consideration to the genuine needs of people in the current scenario.

Mr Subrahmanyam informed the governor that there is no dearth of essential commodities in Kashmir Valley and that the stock will last for over three months.

Governor Malik has appealed to the public and leaders of various social, religious and political organisations to cooperate with the government machinery in the maintenance of law and order in the state.

Centre has asked states and Union territories to keep security forces on maximum after decisions relating to Jammu and Kashmir. Home ministry circular issued to the States and Union Territories said that that all efforts should be ensured to maintain law and order situation in the country.

It said, false and sensational news should not be allowed to be spread through social media platforms. Security of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the students of the State residing across the country should be ensured.

However, today, recognizing the sentiments of the people and ensuring that the number of seats in the South does not diminish, the Modi government has introduced a formula involving a 50% increase”, he noted. Further, Kishan Reddy alleged that from the very beginning, it has been a calculated conspiracy by the Majlis party to ensure that the women are denied any form of political reservation. Statements made by Majlis party leaders specifically Akbaruddin Owaisi suggesting that the entry of the women into politics would give rise to new complications and problems, are officially recorded in the Assembly records. Fearing that a delimitation of constituencies in Hyderabad could jeopardize their own seats, the Majlis party is now conspiring in tandem with both the Congress and the BRS parties . Having held consultations with these two parties, the Majlis party is actively campaigning against both the proposed delimitation and the provision of Women’s reservations”, he remarked. (PMI)
