The FCRA Bill is expected to be taken up in the discussion of the Opposition leaders
New Delhi, August 10, 2026: The 16th day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session witnessed repeated disruptions in both Houses on Monday as Opposition parties pressed for discussions on various issues.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned shortly after proceedings began at 11 a.m. amid Opposition protests and resumed at noon. The House subsequently introduced several key Bills, including the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026, and the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026 was later passed by the Lok Sabha.
The Rajya Sabha also faced disruptions and was adjourned briefly after the morning proceedings began. The House later resumed business and passed the Bankers’ Books Evidence Bill, 2026.
Meanwhile, floor leaders of Opposition parties met in the chamber of Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss their strategy for the day’s proceedings.
The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 (FCRA Bill) was also expected to figure prominently in discussions among Opposition leaders as they finalised their strategy for the session.
The Monsoon Session continues amid protests and demands from the Opposition for discussions on several issues, with key legislative business also scheduled to be taken up in both Houses.
