Telangana’s 36 Government Medical Colleges: Only Four Feature in IIRF 2026 Top 144

Hyderabad, August 10, 2026 (PMI): Telangana has 36 government medical institutions offering more than 4,400 MBBS seats, but only four of them have secured a place among the top 144 government medical institutions in the country in the IIRF 2026 rankings.

Among Telangana’s institutions, Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad emerged as the highest-ranked, securing the 43rd position nationally.

Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, followed at 52nd, while Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, was ranked 60th. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad, was placed at the 139th position.

The rankings assess medical and higher education institutions on a range of academic and institutional parameters, providing an indication of their performance and standing at the national level.

At the national level, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, secured the top position among government medical institutions.

The rankings highlight the contrasting performance of Telangana’s government medical colleges, with only four institutions making it into the national list despite the State having a large network of government medical institutions and more than 4,400 MBBS seats. (pressmediaofindia.com)
