Hyderabad, August 9 (PMI): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is preparing to introduce a new Civil Registration System (CRS) portal that will allow citizens to register births and deaths online through a simplified and convenient digital platform.
During a review meeting, GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan stressed the need for timely registration of births and deaths and the prompt issuance of certificates, terming it an important statutory responsibility of the civic body.
Officials were briefed on the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD) Act and the features of the upcoming CRS portal. The new system is expected to streamline the registration process and improve access to essential civil certificates.
The Commissioner also reviewed the GHMC’s preparedness to tackle vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue. He directed officials to ensure 100 per cent utilisation of adulticides and larvicides, strengthen disease surveillance, intensify mosquito-breeding source reduction and increase preventive measures in areas reporting positive cases.
Special Friday Dry Day campaigns have been launched across all GHMC circles from August 7 to eliminate mosquito-breeding sites and prevent the spread of dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health reviewed circle-wise dengue cases, seasonal preparedness, mosquito behaviour and outbreak-response strategies. The Metropolitan Surveillance Unit (MSU) also presented updates on disease surveillance, identification of hotspots and coordinated field interventions.
GHMC officials were instructed to maintain close monitoring of disease trends and intensify field-level measures to ensure effective prevention and control of vector-borne diseases across Hyderabad. (pressmediaofindia.com)
