Hyderabad, Sept 13 (PMI) Various organisations under the banner of the Jamia Nizamia Raidurg Waqf and Waqf Bachao Tehreek organised a protest meeting at Dharna Chowk on Sunday, demanding immediate measures to protect Waqf properties and properties endowed to Jamia Nizamia Islamic Seminary.
Speakers urged the government and community leaders to take concrete steps to safeguard Waqf assets and religious institutions. They also called for sustained public pressure, greater community participation and accountability in the management and protection of such properties.
MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan appealed to the gathering to continue raising their voice against what he described as injustice. He urged community members to organise peaceful protests and approach their respective MLAs to question them on issues concerning the community.
Aleem Khan Falaki of the Socio Reforms Society stressed the need for sustained community participation to protect Waqf properties. He called for unity and accountability to ensure that properties intended for community welfare were not subjected to misuse or neglect.
Motivational speaker Sheeba Miraji urged women to take an active role in the movement rather than leaving the responsibility entirely to men. She said women could play an important part in highlighting issues related to Waqf properties and community institutions.
