New Delhi, Oct. 10 (PMI): The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday alleged that its leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by Delhi Police shortly after their flight from Mumbai landed in the national capital.
In a statement, the party strongly condemned the alleged detentions, claiming that the action was part of a pre-planned move to prevent its leaders from reaching the venue of their proposed demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
The CJP termed the alleged action a violation of the fundamental right to freedom of movement and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all three leaders.
The party had planned to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and concerns regarding changes and procedures related to Form 6, which is used for voter registration.
The CJP has raised concerns over the alleged manipulation of voter lists and called for accountability in the electoral process. The allegations regarding the detentions were made by the party; independent confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the incident was not available in the information provided.(pressmediaofindia.com)
