TEHRAN/ BERUIT: Israel’s relentless bombardment of Lebanon continues, with attacks killing at least 24 people on Saturday.
The ceasefire between Iran and the US continues to hold despite sporadic skirmishes in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says any attack on Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships will be met with assaults on US bases and “enemy ships” in the region.
Washington says it’s optimistic to think that Tehran will respond to its latest proposal to end the war and resume talks.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) says it has “disabled” four ships and prevented 58 commercial vessels from entering or exiting Iranian ports since April 13.

‘Will review Israeli bill to scrap Oslo Accords’
The far-right deputy speaker of Israel’s Knesset says a bill she is sponsoring to scrap the Oslo Accords will be reviewed today by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.
In a post on social media, Limor Son Har-Melech said the bill is a “first and necessary” step towards legislation to “prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state”.
The Oslo Accords are a series of interim documents signed between Israeli and Palestinian leaders in 1993 and 1995.
They saw each side recognize the other for the first time and pledge to end their decades-long conflict. The accords allowed for limited self-governance for Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, and were meant to ultimately lead to a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
The accords divided the occupied West Bank into three areas: Area A, under Palestinian control; Area B, under joint Israeli-Palestinian control; and Area C, under Israeli control.
Har-Melech said her bill would also promote the development of Israeli settlements, which are illegal under international law, in areas A and B.
The Ministerial Committee for Legislation is made up of ministers and decides whether the government will support a bill.
‘They were targeting children and civilians’
As we’ve been reporting, invading Israeli forces are continuing to bombard residential areas in southern Lebanon, leaving a trail of devastation that has shattered the lives of thousands of families.
Hasan Omar, a resident of Saksakiyeh in Sidon, where recent attacks killed at least seven people and wounded 17 others, said the victims were exclusively families seeking refuge. “Children they were targeting children and civilians. They ran away from Nabatieh, and they targeted them here; all children and women. The people fled from Nabatieh to look for a safe house,” he told media.
Omar also questioned the intent behind the military’s actions: “Who is the Israeli military sending this message to? I don’t understand; nobody understands.”
Mohammed Dahaineh, a rescue worker in Tyre, described the frantic moments after a forced evacuation order from the Israeli military.
“First, the Israeli military issued a threat to the town, so we immediately came and told the people to evacuate because we didn’t know which house the air strike would hit,” Dahaineh told media.
He noted that while the town was largely cleared, some people had remained behind before the bombardment began. “The town was completely evacuated, except for some families who stayed in their homes,” he explained. (Int’l Monitoring Desk)
