Hyderabad, September 9 (PMI): Cyberabad Traffic Police, in association with the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), organised a Traffic Volunteers Certification Programme on Wednesday to recognise and certify citizen volunteers supporting traffic regulation and road safety efforts on the ground.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Cyberabad, Sunpreet Singh, Additional DCP Traffic (Admin) G. Narender, SCSC Traffic Forum Joint Secretary Rajesh Balaraju, SCSC Director Rashmi, SCSC Traffic Manager Mahesh and Sathvik, along with traffic police officials and active volunteers, attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Sunpreet Singh said the rapid increase in vehicular movement and expansion of urban areas were natural outcomes of economic development. He emphasised that addressing traffic congestion and improving road discipline required sustained cooperation between the police, civic agencies and the public.
Commending the certified volunteers for their contribution, Singh encouraged the SCSC leadership and members of the community to motivate more citizens to join the volunteer programme, particularly during peak commuting hours.
During an interactive session, volunteers and SCSC representatives highlighted several issues faced on the roads, including potholes and deteriorating road surfaces, delays in traffic clearance and instances of rash driving by commercial bike-taxi riders who may not be familiar with local traffic and road-safety requirements.
Responding to the concerns, Singh said coordination with various government and civic agencies was being undertaken to address road-related issues. He said liaison with municipal corporations, revenue authorities, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) and Industrial Area Local Authorities was underway to expedite necessary road engineering and repair works.
The programme highlighted the importance of citizen participation and coordinated efforts between traffic police, government agencies, industry bodies and the public in improving traffic management and road safety across Cyberabad. (pressmediaofindia.com)
