DGP Shivadhar Reddy Stresses “Fair, Firm, Friendly and Professional Policing

Hyderabad, Oct 9(Najaf ali Shoukat-PMI) Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, has emphasized that “Fair, Firm, Friendly and Professional Policing” should be the core philosophy guiding every police officer in the State.

Addressing all Additional DGPs, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and DCPs at the DGP office on Thursday, Sri Shivadhar Reddy said the essence of modern policing lies in people-centric service and accountability.

He elaborated that fair policing upholds justice and equality before the law, firm policing enforces the rule of law without fear or favor, friendly policing builds public trust and empathy, while professional policing reflects integrity, discipline, and competence.

“This fourfold motto defines the spirit of modern policing — humane in approach, yet uncompromising in ethics and efficiency,” he said.

The DGP underscored that Basic Policing must remain the operational backbone of the force, covering beat patrolling, visible policing, surveillance, intelligence gathering, emergency response, crime prevention, and community policing. He noted that success should be measured not only by crime statistics but also by public confidence and trust.

Calling for the integration of Artificial Intelligence and technology in policing, Sri Shivadhar Reddy said innovation can strengthen crime prevention, prediction, and investigation. He directed officers to adopt a modern, transparent, and technology-driven approach.

On law and order, he stressed proactive intelligence gathering and swift response mechanisms, directing special focus on heinous crimes such as murder, sexual offenses, cybercrime, organized crime, and narcotics. He instructed that investigations should be scientific and supported by CCTV, AI-based Command Control Centers, and forensic tools to achieve higher conviction rates.

Highlighting people-centric policing, the DGP urged personnel to enhance public confidence, grievance redressal, and citizen partnership. He reiterated zero tolerance towards corruption and misconduct, while stressing administrative discipline, accountability, and performance monitoring.

On welfare and capacity building, he emphasized the importance of improving health, housing, and work conditions of personnel, along with regular training in investigation, cybercrime, forensics, and soft skills.

The DGP also drew attention to road safety, noting that while around 900 murders occur annually in Telangana, nearly 8,000 people die in road accidents each year. He directed strict enforcement, night patrolling, drunk-driving checks, and the formation of District Road Safety Committees (DRSCs) to reduce accidents and fatalities.

We cannot demand discipline from society if we do not uphold it within our own ranks,” Sri Shivadhar Reddy reminded officers. “We wear a uniform that commands respect — let us also conduct ourselves in a manner that earns it.”

He urged officers to promote teamwork, transparency, and innovation to make Telangana a model state in policing.

Law and Order Additional DGP Sri Mahesh M. Bhagwat briefed the meeting on arrangements for the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election and local body polls.
Additional DGP (Training) Sri V.V. Srinivas Rao announced that the training for newly selected DSPs will commence on October 27 at RBVRR Telangana Police Academy, marking the largest-ever DSP batch.

Senior officers, including Smt. Swati Lakra, Ms. Charu Sinha, Sri Anil Kumar, Sri Sanjay Kumar Jain, ADGP Intelligence Sri Vijay Kumar, and Commissioners of Police V.C. Sajjanar (Hyderabad), Sudheer Babu (Rachakonda), and Avinash Mohanty (Cyberabad) attended the meeting.(pressmediaofindia, com)
