US military to block Iranian port traffic in Hormuz Strait

WASHINGTON: The US military says it will block all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports, starting at 10am ET (14:00 GMT).

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says any military vessel that approaches the Strait of Hormuz will be considered in violation of the ceasefire and “will be dealt with severely”.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says talks with the US in Pakistan failed because of Washington’s “maximalist, shifting goalposts and blockade”.

Israel’s military bombards south Lebanon, killing at least four people in Maaroub, as Israeli soldiers seize all entrances to the town of Bint Jbeil amid ongoing clashes with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah claims attacks on 43 Israeli positions on Sunday

The Lebanese armed group says it has carried out 43 attacks on Israeli positions in south Lebanon and northern Israel on Sunday, including with rockets and drones.

These included Israeli troops in and around the towns of Khiam, al-Bayyada, Bint Jbeil, Taybeh, and Shama in south Lebanon and Israeli positions in the Israeli towns of Kiryat Shmnoa, Margaliot, Avivim, Metula and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

It also said it targeted a number of Israeli barracks and bases, including at Al-Aliqah, Beit Hillel, Mount Neria, Filon, Yiftah and Dishon.

He said US forces will also begin clearing mines that he says Iran placed in the strait “so, there you have it, the meeting went well, most points were agreed to, but the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not,” Trump said. “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.” (Int’l News Desk)
