Hyderabad, Oct 15 (PMI): With the Dasara festive season and extended holidays triggering a surge in travel, Hyderabad is witnessing a heavy rush of passengers heading to their native places to celebrate the festival with family members.
Bus depots across the city are crowded with passengers travelling to various districts of Telangana and neighbouring states. Railway stations are also witnessing a significant increase in passenger traffic, particularly among those travelling on long-distance trains.
The rush is expected to intensify towards the weekend, with highways likely to experience heavy vehicular movement as families travel to their hometowns in private cars.
In view of the increased demand for public transport during the festive season, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) operated 1,417 special buses between October 9 and 11 to facilitate passenger movement and manage the additional rush.
According to officials, the corporation operated 495 more special services than the 922 additional buses run during the corresponding period last year, reflecting the increased arrangements made to accommodate festive travellers.
The special services are aimed at providing convenient transportation to passengers travelling to their hometowns and helping manage the additional demand during the Dasara holidays. (pressmediaofindia.com)
