Kothagudem’April 18:Is the Congress government in the State unlikely to deliver the promise of giving 10 gram gold as part of Kalyana Lakshmi/Shadi Mubarak scheme? Congress ally CPI’s Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao says so.
It might be noted that the Congress in its election manifesto in Assembly elections promised to give one tola gold in addition to Rs 1,00,116 to newlywed brides from poor families. However, Sambasiva Rao feels that it might not be possible for the Congress government to give one tola gold in the near future.
He made this comment after distributing Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques here on Friday. He also said that the government was unable to pay salaries to the employees on time indicating the poor condition of the State treasury.
It might be noted that the poor families, which have arranged marriage ceremonies for girls, were already facing difficulties due to the delay in releasing the funds for Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubakak schemes. Many families were being forced to borrow money from private financiers.
The Revanth Reddy government has already failed to provide the promised Rs 500 bonus for 10 different crops, including paddy, cotton, maize and red gram. The promised fee reimbursement for students from SC, ST, BC and minority communities was yet to be delivered, besides clearing old dues.
The same was with the promise of Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver as many farmers across the State were still waiting for their loans waived besides burdened by the suspension of financial assistance under Rythu Bandhu.
Another promise of Rs 2,500 monthly assistance promised to women under the Maha Lakshmi scheme was yet to be delivered. Now the CPI MLA statement on one tola gold clearly indicates how the Congress government deceived the people of Telangana, said a BRS leader Rukmangadar Bandari.
