Hyderabad, Dec.12 (Najaf Ali Shoukat PMI): The Central Election Commission (EC) has lifted the suspension imposed on senior IPS officer and former DGP Anjani Kumar from Telangana.
Anjani Kumar was the DGP of the State when the assembly election results were announced. He went and met Revant Reddy when the results were coming out and model code of conduct was in force on December 3, 2023. Therefore, Anjani Kumar was suspended by the EC for violating the election norms.
Explaining this to the EC, Anjani Kumar said the election code was not violated by him intentionally. He said he went to the residence of Revanth Reddy on the invitation of the latter on the day of the election results. He told the EC that he would not repeat such incidents in future. After considering his appeal, the EC took the decision to lift the suspension. The EC informed the State government to this extent. (PMI)
