Hyderabad, August 10 (Najaf Ali Shoukat): Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, on Monday inaugurated the Ghatam procession, one of the most important events of the Ashada Bonalu festivities, at the historic Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Temple in the Old City.
Before inaugurating the procession, Commissioner Sajjanar visited the temple and performed special prayers to Goddess Mahankali.

peaking on the occasion, CP Sajjanar expressed his happiness at launching the sacred event at the historic Akkanna Madanna Temple. He prayed that the blessings of Goddess Mahankali, who is traditionally believed to have protected people from deadly diseases such as plague and natural calamities like floods in earlier times, would always remain upon the people of Hyderabad.
He said elaborate security arrangements had been made along the Ghatam procession route in coordination with various government departments to ensure that devotees faced no inconvenience and to prevent any untoward incidents.
The Ghatam procession began at the Akkanna Madanna Temple in Haribowli and proceeded through Gowlipura, Lal Darwaza and Shalibanda, before concluding at Nayapul.
Commissioner Sajjanar said that Bonalu festivities had been conducted peacefully and grandly across Hyderabad over the past month, including at Golconda, Balkampet, Ujjaini Mahankali and Lal Darwaza, with the cooperation of devotees.
On behalf of the Hyderabad City Police, he thanked the temple trustees, organisers, officials of various government departments and devotees for their cooperation in making the festivities successful. He also appreciated the police officers and personnel who worked tirelessly to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful celebrations.
