Hyderabad Bonalu: Traffic Diversions, Road Closures and Parking Arrangements Announced

The diversions will remain in force until the Bonalu processions conclude.

Hyderabad, Aug 8 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI): The Hyderabad Traffic Police has announced extensive traffic restrictions, diversions, alternate routes and designated parking arrangements in view of the Bonalu celebrations and processions scheduled across the city on August 9 and 10.

The restrictions will be implemented in phases from the night of August 8 and will continue until the Bonalu processions conclude. Major routes around Lal Darwaza, Charminar, Gulzar House, Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Gowlipura, Chatrinaka, Moghalpura, Khilwath, Nayapul and Laad Bazaar will be affected.

The Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid the restricted routes and use alternate roads wherever possible.

Diversions from August 8 night

From 9 pm on August 8 until the conclusion of the restrictions, RTC buses and four-wheelers travelling from Puranapool Junction towards the 2J Bus Stop through Jiyaguda Road will be diverted at Puranapool Junction.

Traffic from Puranapool Junction towards Darbar Maisamma Temple via Tappachabutra T Junction will be diverted at MESCO College towards Jiyaguda Road via Wee the School. Vehicles from Tappachabutra towards Darbar Maisamma Temple will be diverted at Tappachabutra T Junction towards Jirra Road.

 

Traffic coming from Yadav Bhavan towards Darbar Maisamma Temple and Karwan Road will be diverted at Murgi Chowk/Tallagadda Junction.

Vehicles travelling from Moghal-ka-Nala towards Puranapool Junction through Darbar Maisamma Temple will be diverted at Nehru School towards the 2J Bus Stop. RTC buses and four-wheelers travelling through Jiyaguda Road will be diverted at the 2J Bus Stop towards 100-Foot Road.

When the elephant procession reaches the area near Hanuman Temple, traffic from Asif Nagar towards Tappachabutra T Junction will be diverted at Royal See Hotel towards Jirra Road.

Amberpet Flyover restrictions

From 6 am on August 9 until noon on August 10, all vehicles, including heavy vehicles, DCMs, district buses and city buses coming from Chaderghat and MGBS will be required to use the Amberpet Flyover.

Devotees arriving from Ramanthapur will be permitted through the left-side lane near the Amberpet Flyover. They can proceed towards Gandhi Statue, take a left towards Amberpet GHMC Ground and park their vehicles inside the ground.

General traffic travelling from Ramanthapur towards Ali Café and Road No. 6 will be diverted through the left-side lane near Gandhi Statue. Vehicles can enter through SARCPL Gate and exit through Sandana Gate.

Vehicles from Tilaknagar and NCC heading towards Ramanthapur and Uppal will be diverted at Road No. 6 Junction towards Golnaka and will have to take a U-turn at Golnaka Chilla to proceed via Amberpet Flyover.

Alternate routes if Amberpet Flyover is congested

If the Amberpet Flyover experiences heavy congestion, vehicles from Uppal towards Amberpet T Junction and Ali Café will be diverted at Royal Juice Corner through Mallikarjuna Nagar, DD Colony, Syndicate Bank, Shivam Road and Tilak Nagar.

If congestion develops at Saldhana Gate, vehicles heading towards Uppal will be diverted at Ali Café through HMWSSB and Nagole Road.

Traffic from Nimboliadda towards Uppal will be diverted through Golnaka Zinda, Tilismath, Ali Café, Saldhana Gate, CPL Amberpet and Gandhi Statue.

Old City traffic diversions on August 9 and 10

Extensive restrictions will also be imposed around the Simhavahini Mahankali Devalayam and other Bonalu procession routes in the Old City.

Traffic towards Aliabad

Vehicles from Engine Bowli and Falaknuma will be diverted at the new Shamsheergunj “T” Junction towards Goshala, Tadban or Goshala-Misri Gunj and Khilwath.

Vehicles coming from MBNR X Road will be diverted at Engine Bowli towards Jahanuma, Goshala, Tadban or Goshala-Misri Gunj and Khilwath.

Traffic towards Lal Darwaza

Vehicles from Nagulchinta and Sudha Talkies will not be permitted towards Lal Darwaza Temple and will be diverted at Nehru Mode towards Sudha Talkies via Gowlipura.

Traffic from Gowlipura will be diverted at Sudha Talkies towards Mirchowk via Hari Bowli.

Vehicles from Rajanna Bowli will be diverted at the Venkateshwar Swamy Temple (Baba Bar) lane towards Ramaswamy Gunj.

Traffic from Kandikal Gate will be diverted at the OP Chatrinaka Police Station “Y” Junction towards Gowlipura.

Vehicles from Balagunj will be diverted at Laxmi Devi Pan Shop towards Nehru Statue/Nagulchinta Junction.

Vehicles coming from Pancha Mohalla in Charminar towards Nagulchinta will be diverted towards Hari Bowli, Volga Hotel and Misri Gunj.

Traffic towards Charminar

Vehicles approaching Charminar Main Road from Asra Hospital and Moghalpura Water Tank will not be allowed and will be diverted towards Bibi Bazar.

Traffic from Bhavani Nagar and Mirjumla Talab will be diverted at Bibi Bazar X Roads towards Alijah Kotla/Miralam Mandi Road.

Vehicles from Alijah Kotla and Moghalpura heading towards Charminar through Sardar Mahal Road will be diverted at Chowk Maidan Khan through Hafiz Danka Mosque, Arman Hotel, Sri Gayatri College and Alijah Kotla.

Other major diversions

Traffic from Uppuguda and Chatrinaka through Gowlipura towards Mohammed Shukoor Mosque will be diverted at Balraj Jewellers near Gowlipura X Roads towards Moghalpura Police Station.

Vehicles travelling from Kandikal Gate Flyover towards Chatrinaka OP will be diverted towards VN Reddy Kaman and Uppuguda Janda.

Traffic from Fateh Darwaza towards Himmatpura X Roads and Rajesh Medical Hall will be diverted at Volga Hotel “T” Junction towards Khilwath Road.

Vehicles from Gowlipura towards Sudha Theatre will be diverted at Mohammed Shukoor Mosque towards Mirchowk through Volga Hotel, Moghalpura and Etabar Chowk.

Traffic from Chatrinaka OP towards Gowlipura will be diverted at Gandhi Statue towards Sri Ram Nagar Colony, CIB Quarters, Sultan Shahi, Lalitha Bagh and Moghalpura.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Old Chandrayangutta towards Chatrinaka will be diverted towards Santosh Nagar and Chandrayangutta.

Vehicles from Meer-ka-Daira and Moghalpura heading towards Hari Bowli X Roads will be diverted towards the Moghalpura Water Tank area.

Traffic from Yakutpura towards Gulzar House will be diverted at Etabar Chowk towards Mir Alam Mandi and Alijah Kotla Road.

Vehicles from Purani Haveli towards Tipu Khana Masjid through Chatta Bazar will be diverted at Lakkad Kote X Roads towards APAT Junction or Dar-ul-Shifa.

Vehicles coming from Chaderghat, Noorkhan Bazar, SJ Rotary and Shivaji Bridge towards Salar Jung Museum Road will be diverted at SJ Rotary towards Purani Haveli Road, Shivaji Bridge and Chaderghat.

Traffic from Khilwath Road and Moosabowli Road towards Laad Bazaar will be diverted at Motigalli “T” Junction towards Khilwath Playground or Moosabowli.

Vehicles from Bandi-ke-Adda and Ghansi Bazaar towards Gulzar House will be diverted at Mitte-ke-Sher (Sher-e-Batul Kaman) towards Ghansi Bazaar and Chelapura.

Traffic from Ghansi Bazaar and Chelapura towards Chakram Adda will be diverted towards Chelapura.

Vehicles from Puranapool, Goodwill Hotel and Moosabowli heading towards Nayapul through High Court Gate No. 1 along the Musi River will be diverted at Muslimjung Bridge towards Bhoolaxmi Temple, Begum Bazar and Chatri.

Vehicles from Gowliguda and Siddiamber Bazar towards Nayapul will be diverted at Afzalgunj towards Muslimjung Bridge through the rear side of Osmania General Hospital along the Musi River or via Shivaji Bridge.

Chilkalguda traffic restrictions

At Shri Katta Maisamma-Pochamma Temple in Chilkalguda, vehicles from Seethaphalmandi Junction towards Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted towards Namalagundu-Warasiguda X Road and then towards Seethaphalmandi T Junction, OU City Road and Tarnaka X Road.

Vehicles coming from Allugadabavi and Secunderabad through Chilkalguda X Road towards Seethaphalmandi will be diverted towards Padmarao Nagar T Junction.

Major road to remain closed

The main road between Madina X Roads and Engine Bowli, passing through Gulzar House, Charminar, Charminar Bus Terminal, Himmatpura, Nagulchinta and Aliabad, will remain closed to all vehicular traffic until the Bonalu processions are completed.

Parking facilities for Bonalu devotees

The Traffic Police has identified several locations for devotees to park their vehicles:

  • Aliabad side: Devi Plywood opposite the Post Office, Shalibanda and Alka Theatre open space.
  • Hari Bowli/Gowlipura side: Arya Vaishya Mandir, Sudha Theatre lane, Alka Theatre open space and VDP School.
  • Old PS Chatrinaka side: Sri Venkateshwara Temple, Laxmi Nagar and Phoolbagh Chaman Ground near Pattar-ki-Dargah.
  • Moosabowli/Mirchowk side: Charminar Bus Terminal.
  • Government Primary and High School Ground, Karwan.
  • Toli Masjid, opposite Government School, Karwan.
  • Private premises of Jagath Singh for two-wheelers.

RTC bus services diverted

TGSRTC and APSRTC buses will not operate towards Charminar, Falaknuma and Nayapul during the restrictions.

Instead, buses will terminate at Old CBS, Afzalgunj, Dar-ul-Shifa X Roads, Chatrinaka and Engine Bowli, while services will operate on alternate routes wherever permitted.

The Traffic Police has appealed to devotees and commuters to cooperate with the restrictions, avoid unnecessary travel through the procession routes and use the designated parking areas and alternate routes to prevent congestion during the Bonalu celebrations. (pressmediaofindia.com)
