Hyderabad, June 9 (PMI)  Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Hyderabad on Tuesday evening, severely affecting normal life across the city. Continuous rainfall inundated several roads, while waterlogging in low-lying areas caused significant inconvenience to residents.

Heavy showers were recorded in several parts of the city, including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Film Nagar, Uppal, Nagole, LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Malkajgiri, Bahadurpura, Abids, Malakpet, Amberpet, Ramanthapur, Saroornagar, Saidabad, Musheerabad, Himayatnagar, and areas surrounding the Osmania University. Many roads resembled streams as rainwater accumulated rapidly.

The downpour led to waterlogging at several major roads and intersections, resulting in long traffic jams during peak evening hours as office-goers were returning home. Two-wheeler riders and pedestrians faced particular difficulties navigating flooded streets and congested roads.

Traffic police advised motorists to exercise caution, reduce vehicle speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid driving through waterlogged stretches wherever possible.

According to the weather department, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to continue over the next few hours. Authorities and emergency departments remain on alert, while citizens have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated on weather advisories.

While the rainfall brought pleasant weather and a drop in temperatures, widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion disrupted daily life in several parts of Hyderabad. (pressmediaofindia.com)
