Telangana ACB Unearths Assets Worth Rs 17.94 Crore from R&B Engineer-in-Chief

The Telangana ACB uncovered disproportionate assets worth Rs 17.94 crore allegedly amassed by R&B Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik Jarupla during his government service.

Hyderabad, June 9 (PMI): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets case against Mohan Naik Jarupla, Engineer-in-Chief of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, for allegedly amassing assets worth Rs 17.94 crore beyond his known sources of income.

According to ACB officials, the case was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The officer is accused of acquiring substantial wealth through corrupt practices during his tenure in government service.

Following the registration of the FIR, ACB teams conducted simultaneous searches at 17 locations, including the officer’s residence, office, and properties linked to his relatives, associates, and suspected benamidars.

During the raids, investigators uncovered assets with an official estimated value of Rs 17.94 crore. Officials noted that the actual market value of the properties could be significantly higher.

The assets identified include 19.38 acres of agricultural land in Nizamabad district, seven flats located in Kompally and Gachibowli, a triplex villa in Miyapur, an under-construction house in Kukatpally, and an advance payment of Rs 1 crore made for a proposed villa in Nizamabad.

The searches also led to the seizure of Rs 55 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 1.44 crore, 2.5 kilograms of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 2 crore, 6 kilograms of silver ornaments, household articles worth Rs 1.26 crore, various electronic gadgets, and two vehicles.

ACB officials stated that verification of additional assets is still underway. The accused officer is expected to be arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. The investigation is continuing. (pressmediaofindia.com)
