Hyderabad, April 12 (PMI): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed the officials to take stringent action against those millers who cheat farmers during the purchase of paddy produce.
“If any farmer is forced to sold his crop at a low price, action should be taken against those responsible,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting with officials on the paddy procurement and drinking water supply at the Secretariat here on Friday.
Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and senior officials were present.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy has ordered to cancel the trade licenses of the millers and traders who buy paddy produce at low prices in the agricultural market yards, stopping the process of custom milling and adding the millers into a blacklist.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that it has come to his notice that the traders and millers are cutting the price due to high humidity in some places an appealed to the farmers to dry the paddy produce before bringing it to the market.
“If the paddy is transported directly from the fields to the markets, the moisture content will be high. It is suggested that suitable arrangements should be made in the market yards for drying grain, CC cameras should be installed and steps should be taken to prevent theft of grain,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Chief Minister directed the Collectors in all the districts to inspect the markets and grain purchase centers under their jurisdiction and ensure that purchases are made smoothly without any inconvenience to the farmers.
“The minimum support price should be implemented and the complaints from the farmers should always be resolved,” Revanth Reddy said.
The Chief Minister ordered that the process of paddy procurement should be monitored day by day from the State level. (PMI)
