Police Conduct Elephant Trial Run, Tighten Security for Bibi Ka Alawa,
Hyderabad, June 20 (PMI) On the occasion of Muharram, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, visited the historic Bibi Ka Alam at Dabirpura, Darushifa, on Saturday. He offered dhatti and participated in special prayers.
Later, along with MLC Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hasan Effendi, Najaf Ali Shoukat, President of Markazi Anjuman, the Commissioner flagged off the trial walk of Sridevi, the elephant that serves as the main attraction of the Bibi Ka Alam procession. During the visit, senior police officials inspected the security arrangements and reviewed the preparations on the ground.
The Commissioner also interacted with the procession organizers and requested their cooperation with the police to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the event.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said that the Hyderabad City Police had taken extensive precautionary measures to maintain law and order during Muharram and to prevent any untoward incidents. As part of these arrangements, nearly 2,000 police personnel will be deployed for the Bibi Ka Alam procession.
He further stated that traffic restrictions would be imposed along the procession route to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees and maintain public safety.
Explaining the purpose of the elephant trial run, the Commissioner said that it was conducted to assess the elephant’s behavior in large crowds, examine the procession route, and identify any additional security measures required to ensure a safe and peaceful procession.
Recalling the cooperation extended by the people of Hyderabad during previous major events, Sajjanar appealed to citizens to extend the same support this year and help ensure the successful and peaceful completion of the procession.
He expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of the public and organizers, the procession would reflect Hyderabad’s unique Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb and conclude peacefully.
