US hits Iran’s Qeshm; Tehran targeted Kuwait & Bahrain

03-06-2026

TEHRAN/ KUWAIT CITY/ MANAMA/ WASHINGTON: The United States military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces conducted “self-defence” strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island and “defeated multiple” Iranian missiles and drones, as civilian vessels and regional allies Kuwait and Bahrain came under attack.

Kuwait’s military said air defence systems intercepted incoming drones and missiles, while Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said warning sirens were activated. Earlier, Iranian media reported that explosions were heard in the vicinity of Qeshm Island.

US President Donald Trump has hit back at reports that negotiations with Iran to end the war have stalled, saying that “conversations between us have been going on continuously”.

Israel continues its deadly bombing campaign in southern Lebanon a day after Trump said that Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, had agreed to call off planned attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs.

At least 3,468 people have been martyred in Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2, with 10,577 injured, Lebanon’s Health Ministry reports.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah reports 13 attacks on Israeli forces in south Lebanon

Hezbollah says it launched 13 attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, targeting troop gatherings, military vehicles and army command posts.

According to a statement detailing operations extending into Tuesday, the group said its fighters used rocket salvoes, artillery, guided missiles and attack drones to counter Israeli positions and advancements.

The operations featured intense engagements in several key sectors in the southern region of the country where Israeli forces have invaded.

In Haddatha and the al-Balou’ area, Hezbollah reported striking multiple Israeli Merkava tanks and detonating an explosive device against a military vehicle, which forced Israeli troops to halt their advance and withdraw under the cover of air strikes by Israel’s air force.

Additional barrages focused on Israeli forces positioned around southern Lebanon’s historic Beaufort Castle and within the town of Biyyada, where guided missiles and rocket salvoes struck a command headquarters and armoured units, according to the statement.

Earlier, US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott announced that Israeli and Lebanese delegations have concluded another round of direct negotiations in Washington, DC, aimed at securing a comprehensive security and political agreement.

“Progress continues on the political and security tracks as we break from the failures of the past 20 years and advance toward a comprehensive agreement aimed at restoring Lebanon’s sovereignty and ensuring Israel’s security,” Pigott said in a post on social media.

Netanyahu wants to ‘fortify’ northern Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared a lengthy post on social media, talking about “massive plans” to “strengthen” northern Israel amid ongoing drone attacks across the border from Lebanon.

“Fortification” plans up to 7km (3 miles) from the Lebanese border are “an addition to security” in the “major struggle we are waging against Hezbollah”, Netanyahu told a government meeting.

The Israeli government is investing $20bn to “restore both security and prosperity” to the region, Netanyahu added, comparing the plans to southern areas bordering the Gaza Strip, which he said now enjoy “tremendous prosperity”. (Int’l News Desk)
