Telangana’s EAGLE Task Force has earned national recognition with an 80 per cent score across seven parameters for its anti-drug enforcement efforts.
Hyderabad, Sept 22 (PMI) The Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Task Force has received national recognition after securing an overall score of 80 per cent across seven key parameters prescribed by the Union Government for assessing anti-narcotics enforcement agencies.
EAGLE Task Force Director Sandeep Shandilya received the recognition from Union Home Minister Amit Shah following the two-day National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Heads held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The seven parameters on which the Telangana task force was assessed included intelligence operations; control of precursors and synthetic drugs; prosecution; demand and harm reduction; coordination and capacity building; research and analysis; and administration and logistics.
The conference brought together senior police officers and heads of anti-narcotics task forces from across the country to discuss measures to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse, besides strengthening coordination among law-enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The EAGLE Task Force was launched last year by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with the objective of identifying, preventing and tackling drug-related activities across the state.
Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand congratulated the EAGLE team and said the department would continue to strengthen enforcement and preventive mechanisms against the drug menace.
As part of its efforts to increase public participation, the EAGLE Force has also introduced an AI-enabled website aimed at facilitating public engagement and supporting the state’s anti-drug initiatives.
The task force operates with advanced technology, trained personnel, and coordinated support from various law-enforcement and intelligence agencies. (pressmediaofindia.com)
