“Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”: Massive Road Safety & Anti-Drug Drive Held in Vikarabad

Vikarabad, April 17(PMI) Under the Telangana Government’s 99-day “Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika” initiative, the District Police organized a large-scale awareness programme focusing on road safety and drug prevention at Sri Sai Dental College Auditorium in Vikarabad.

The event featured the “Arrive Alive” campaign to reduce road accidents and an Anti-Drug Awareness drive to combat narcotic abuse. Additional DGP Swati Lakra, IPS, attended as Chief Guest, while District Collector Deepak Tiwari, IAS, and SP Sneha Mehra, IPS, were Guests of Honour.

A live CPR demonstration by the medical team educated participants on emergency life-saving techniques. Students performed a skit on the dangers of drug abuse, and cultural programmes highlighted the consequences of road accidents. Informative videos on negligence and traffic violations were also screened.

Addressing the gathering, Swati Lakra stressed that most fatal accidents occur due to minor negligence. She urged strict adherence to traffic rules, use of helmets, and avoidance of over-speeding, drunk driving, and wrong-route driving. Emphasizing “Speed thrills but kills,” she warned that reckless driving can destroy families.

Promoting the message “Say No to Drugs – Yes to Life,” she advised youth to stay away from narcotics and remain alert against cybercrimes.

Collector Deepak Tiwari said road safety and anti-drug campaigns are being conducted across the district. He noted that Road Safety Committees have been formed in villages and accident-prone “black spots” identified for preventive action.

SP Sneha Mehra highlighted initiatives under the “Arrive Alive” programme, including free eye check-ups, distribution of spectacles and helmets, and awareness rallies. She urged citizens to actively support the mission of building a drug-free society.

The programme was attended by district officials, police personnel, health workers, transport unions, students, and the general public. (pressmediaofindia.com)
