Hyderabad, Sept.21 (Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Monday called upon the citizens, particularly the youth, to balance their rights with duties and contribute to nation-building with patriotism, discipline and a strong sense of national responsibility.
Addressing the 19th National Conference of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha at the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, the Governor said the energy of the youth should be channelled towards strengthening and developing the nation.
Recalling the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union, Shukla highlighted the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Indian Army in the process. He also lauded the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha for promoting patriotism, discipline and national consciousness and for bringing ex-servicemen and patriotic citizens together.
The Governor said India’s progress towards Atmanirbhar Bharat required close coordination among research institutions, the armed forces and the defence industry. He described MCEME as an important centre for advanced military technology and training.
“Retirement from the uniform does not mean retirement from national service”, Shukla said, stressing that the experience, discipline and leadership of ex-servicemen remained valuable assets for nation-building. He also paid tribute to serving personnel and the families of martyrs whose sacrifices underpin the country’s security.
“What is important is not only what the nation does for us, but also what we can do for the nation”, he said, urging citizens to work towards the vision of Viksit Bharat – 2047.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, the Governor said, “Arise, awake and move forward until the goal is achieved”, and called for a renewed spirit of patriotism, service and national unity.
On this occasion, Shukla presented Utkrishta Deshbhakti medals to five distinguished members for their contributions.
National President of the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha and Vir Chakra awardee Colonel Tejendra Pal Tyagi, Telangana State President Major General N. Srinivasa Rao, Acharya Lokesh, founder of Vishva Shanti Kendra, Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Professor Neelam Pawar, Narendra Ram Nambul and Anuradha Rao, among others, attended the conference.
