Hyderabad, Sept 3 (PMI) Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh on Thursday, September 3, claimed that corruption allegations were behind the removal of Konda Surekha from the Telangana Cabinet.
Surekha was removed from the portfolios of Forest and Environment and Endowments amid a disciplinary controversy involving remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmita Patel, against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Congress high command directed Surekha to resign from the Cabinet.
Reacting to the development, Raja Singh, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, alleged that Surekha and her daughter were involved in a dispute concerning the distribution of money shares.
Konda Surekha Controversy
The controversy began on August 19, when Konda Sushmita Patel reportedly made remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at an event in Geesugonda. She also announced her intention to contest the upcoming elections from Parakala and said she would contest as an independent if the Congress high command denied her a party ticket.
On Wednesday, Surekha met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi and presented her side of the issue. She reportedly maintained that she should not be held responsible for remarks made by her daughter.
“It is not right to hold me responsible simply because she is my daughter. I will neither condemn nor support her remarks,” Surekha said.
Raja Singh’s allegations, however, have added a fresh political dimension to the controversy. The claims regarding corruption and the alleged dispute over money shares have not been independently established. (pressmediaofindia.com)
