Hyderabad, May 9 (Ali Abbas-PMI). In view of the approaching sacred month of Moharram-2026, Amjed Ullah Khan, along with Syed Imdad Hussain and Shakeel, met Mohammed Ali Shabbir and urged the Telangana Government to arrange permanent elephants for the historic and sacred Bibi Ka Alam procession.
Speaking on the occasion, Amjed Ullah Khan said that the Bibi Ka Alam procession is not merely a traditional event, but a symbol of deep devotion and remembrance of the sacrifices of Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala. He stated that maintaining the dignity and continuity of this centuries-old religious procession is the collective responsibility of society and the government.
Mr. Khan informed that for the past two years, he has continuously represented the matter before Anumula Revanth Reddy, Konda Surekha, and Mohammed Ali Shabbir, requesting the state government to purchase its own elephants instead of depending on animals brought from other states during Moharram and Bonalu.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir assured the delegation that the Telangana Government is willing to purchase two elephants. However, discussions are underway regarding suitable arrangements for their care, accommodation, and annual maintenance.
He explained that in earlier times, the Nizam Trust maintained elephants for religious occasions and bore all expenses, but after the demise of the last elephant, the state has been compelled to hire elephants from outside Telangana every year.
Amjed Ullah Khan also urged the government to ensure that all Moharram-related development and repair works at Aashoorkhanas are completed well before the commencement of Moharram-2026 so that mourners, devotees, and Zayareen may participate in the azadari ceremonies without inconvenience.
He further appealed for an early official review meeting so that preparations for the sacred month may be completed in a dignified and organized manner, reflecting the religious importance and spiritual heritage associated with the remembrance of Karbala in Hyderabad. (pressmediaofindia.com)
