28.163 kg ganja seized in Malkajgiri; three arrested

Hyderabad, Sept 21 (PMI) Officials of the Prohibition and Excise Department seized 28.163 kg of ganja in two separate cases in Hyderabad and arrested three persons allegedly involved in transporting the contraband from Visakhapatnam to the city.

In the first case, Excise officials seized 7.163 kg of ganja near the RK Nagar auto stand in Malkajgiri and arrested Bappa, a native of West Bengal.

In the second case, officials seized 21 kg of ganja from two women who allegedly travelled by train from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad while carrying the contraband. The arrested women were identified as Hindu Rani and Rajammal Panchagam, both natives of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The total value of the seized ganja in the two cases was estimated at Rs 10 lakh. The Excise Department registered cases against the accused and initiated further investigation into the alleged transportation of the contraband. (pressmediaofindia.com)
