Hyderabad, June 5, 2026 (PMI): In a significant achievement towards ensuring child safety and speedy justice, the Fast Track Special Court for Expeditious Trial and Disposal of Rape and POCSO Act Cases at L.B. Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, convicted a serial offender in a child sexual assault case registered at Pahadishareef Police Station.
The court, presided over by Hon’ble Judge Smt. M.K. Padmavathi, found the accused guilty in Crime No. 96/2023, registered under Sections 366, 344, and 376(2)(n) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Section 5 read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The convicted accused, Rajendra (35), son of Ganapat Rao, a labourer residing in a rented room at Sriram Nagar Colony and originally from Rajola Village, Basavakalyan Taluk, Bidar District of Karnataka, was found guilty after a detailed trial conducted under S.C. No. 125/2024.
The Hon’ble Court sentenced the accused to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of ₹20,000. In addition, considering the trauma suffered by the survivor, the court awarded victim compensation of ₹3 lakh.
The conviction was the result of coordinated efforts by the investigating, prosecution, and court teams. The investigation was led by Sri P. Laxmikanth Reddy, then ACP Maheshwaram, whose meticulous probe played a key role in securing the conviction. Additional Public Prosecutors Smt. Shoba Rani and Sri P. Satyanarayana effectively represented the case before the court.
Court Duty Officers, summons and warrant execution staff, and liaison officers also played a crucial role in ensuring the successful prosecution of the case.
The Hyderabad City Police and Pahadishareef Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice for victims and strict punishment for offenders. (pressmediaofindia.com)
