Two Congress leaders arrested in Nallamala forest

Hyderabad, Aug.14 (PMI): Telangana Congress leaders were arrested on Wednesday during their visit to Nallamalla forest area against uranium extraction. AICC Kisan Cell vice-chairman M Kodanda Reddy, former MLA Dr Vamsi Krishna were arrested. The duo claimed that they were arrested while they were trying to meet the affected farmers in the forest area and were taken to the police station.

Speaking on the occasion, the arrested leaders alleged that the farmers were facing a lot of problems due to uranium extraction. They also said the environment of the forest and animals were facing threat to their life due to uranium extraction. Pointing out that all the developed nations were prohibiting uranium extraction, they wondered as to how the State and Central governments were giving permissions for the extraction of uranium in the Nallamalla forest.
