Taxpayers cautioned against fake IT notices

Hyderabad, It has come to light that many taxpayers are receiving fake notices purportedly from the Income Tax Department. The fake notices carry department insignia but incorrect designation and fictitious names of officers. The fake notices invoke provisions of Income Tax Act and Benami Prohibition Act.

All taxpayers are advised not to respond to such notices and may contact first the Public Relations Officer B.V. Vinod, (Land Line No. 040-23425200 and Mobile No. 8985970011) or the office name mentioned in the fake notice for verification before taking any action. They may also lodge police complaint, if they feel necessary.
