RBI Governor Urjit Patel on Monday stepped down from his post citing personal reasons.
In a statement, Dr. Patel said he is stepping down with immediate effect.
He said it was his privilege and honour to serve in the Reserve Bank of India in various capacities over the years.
He thanked the RBI staff, officers and management which has been the proximate driver of the Bank’s considerable accomplishments in recent years.
He also thanked Directors of the RBI Central Board for their support.
