Question to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy: Has the Public’s Right to Information Been Taken Away Under Your Government?

Hyderabad, May 13: (PMI) Various organizations belonging to the Shia community have appealed to CM Anumula Revanth Reddy to direct the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Telangana State Waqf Board to respond within the stipulated time to applications filed under the Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI Act).

The organizations alleged that both departments are ignoring RTI applications submitted by citizens and are failing to provide the requested information.

According to the organizations, when officials are questioned regarding the delay, they reportedly claim that senior authorities or political pressure have instructed them not to disclose the information.

The organizations questioned whether the public’s fundamental Right to Information has been curtailed under the present government. They urged the Chief Minister to intervene immediately and ensure transparency and the citizens’ constitutional right to access information.

Shia organizations have appealed to Revanth Reddy to direct both concerned departments to respond to the submitted requests.

They further stated that if the government itself purchases an elephant for the procession of Bibi’s Alam, the issue would be permanently resolved. They expressed hope that this important task can be accomplished only under your government. (pressmediaofindia.com)
