Ganesh Festival Arrangements Reviewed at Telangana Government Meeting; Police, Civic Bodies Asked to Ensure Smooth Immersion HYDERABAD: A high-level Telangana Government meeting was held to review arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festival and immersion, with representatives of the Ganesh Utsav Committee and major idol committees, including the Khairatabad Ganesh, taking part in the discussions. The meeting was chaired by the Minister for Transport, BC Welfare and Hyderabad in-charge, and attended by senior officials from various government departments, police and municipal commissioners. Speaking at the meeting, a senior police official with extensive experience in managing Ganesh immersions said this was his 14th Ganesh immersion duty, including 10 occasions when he served as DCP, Additional Commissioner of Police and Commissioner of Police in the city. He highlighted the need to organise bandobust and security arrangements in six phases, while stressing the responsibilities of festival organisers and the precautions required at Ganesh mandaps. The official also emphasised close coordination between the police and municipal commissioners, particularly for managing traffic, crowds and immersion-related arrangements. He stressed the timely installation and positioning of cranes at immersion points to ensure the safe and smooth completion of the process. Officials from various departments briefed the organisers about their respective arrangements and preparedness. Representatives of the Ganesh Utsav Committee and other major idol committees raised their concerns and sought clarifications, which were addressed by the officials. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination and ensuring that the Ganesh festival and immersion process is conducted peacefully, safely and without inconvenience to the public.

1. Defence Expo-2026: CM A. Revanth Reddy invited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to inaugurate Defence Expo-2026 as part of the Invest Telangana Global Summit in December. Telangana also sought Centre’s support for the air show, defence participation, Adilabad Airport and a DRDL project.
2. Minority Welfare: Minister Mohammad Azharuddin distributed 278 cheques of ₹50,000 each to minority widows and 13 generator/tool kits worth ₹60,000 each to members of the Turka Kasha community in Rangareddy. He stressed women’s employment and youth empowerment.
3. Harish Rao attacks Congress: BRS leader T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its Six Guarantees even after 1,000 days and criticised the state’s education, healthcare, power, drinking water and law-and-order situation.
4. Singareni privatisation denied: Singareni Collieries clarified that there is no proposal to privatise its underground coal mines. The company said the 21 underground mines would continue despite financial losses, while efforts are being made to improve viability.
5. BRS ‘chargesheet’: BRS released a chargesheet accusing the Congress government of “1,000 days of distress”, citing alleged governance failures, debt, unfulfilled promises, farm issues, unemployment and infrastructure concerns. It announced a statewide protest from September 2 to 8.
6. Meat shops to close: GHMC ordered all sheep/goat and cattle slaughterhouses and retail meat/beef shops within GHMC limits to remain closed on September 4 on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
7. Gollala Gudi gets national status: The ASI declared historic Gollala Gudi at Palampet, Mulugu district, a monument of national importance, strengthening protection of the Kakatiya-era architectural site.
8. GATE and aerospace careers: GATE Aerospace Academy founder Ashok Naidu advised aerospace students to use GATE for opportunities in DRDO, defence, PSUs, research and higher education, while highlighting defence-entry routes such as AFCAT and CDS.
9. NIMS Nursing counselling: NIMS announced first-phase counselling for B.Sc. Nursing admissions for September 12 at 9 a.m. Eligible candidates must report with original certificates, counselling letter and prescribed fee.
10. Illegal gutkha unit busted: Telangana Commercial Taxes officials inspected 25 premises in Hyderabad and uncovered an unauthorised pan masala/gutkha manufacturing unit near Barkas, seizing machinery, raw materials and counterfeit packaging.
11. Fake currency racket: Hyderabad Task Force and Balapur Police arrested three persons and seized counterfeit currency worth ₹2.91 lakh, along with printing equipment. Police said fake ₹500, ₹200 and ₹100 notes were allegedly circulated in small quantities.
12. TTD tightens security: TTD intensified vigilance against middlemen and fraudulent websites. It identified 249 fake websites, registered around 30 cheating cases and seized 261 drones and 105 Meta smart glasses this year.
13. Healthy eating from childhood: ICMR-NIN Director Dr. Bharati Kulkarni advised that children below two should have zero added sugar and stressed dietary diversity and healthy habits to combat childhood obesity.
14. 184 rowdy sheeters counselled: Police counselled 184 rowdy sheeters in Rajendranagar and Shamshabad zones, warning them against criminal activity. Their movements and conduct will be monitored and verified monthly.
15. KBR Park traffic review: Hyderabad CP V.C. Sajjanar and GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan reviewed the new one-way traffic system around KBR Park. Authorities were directed to address bottlenecks through road widening, repairs, drainage work and utility shifting.
16. Gandhi Bhavan grievance programme: Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said 78 petitions relating to ration cards, housing, land, passbooks and education were received and would be forwarded to the concerned departments for resolution.
17. DRDO-UoH rocket fuel patent: DRDO and University of Hyderabad researchers secured Patent No. 599900 for BAM-H24, a next-generation solid rocket propellant compound designed for stability, lower sensitivity and potential propulsion applications.

Konda Surekha questions disciplinary action: Telangana Minister Konda Surekha questioned proposed disciplinary action against her, saying Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s own statements should also be examined. She also raised concerns over whether different standards were being applied to BC leaders.
19. Parkal martyrs remembered: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao paid tribute to the Parkal martyrs, describing the massacre as the “Jallianwala Bagh of South India” and demanded that September 17 officially be observed as Telangana Liberation Day.
20. Kishan Reddy targets Congress: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy accused the Telangana Congress government of failing to fulfil election promises and criticised it over employee issues, pending bills, PRC, DA payments, women’s monthly assistance and promised electric scooters.
21. BRS targets Revanth’s foreign trips: BRS leader Manne Krishank alleged that CM Revanth Reddy spent around 300 days outside Telangana during the first 1,000 days of his government and claimed more than ₹400 crore was spent on Delhi and foreign trips.
22. Ponguleti defends Congress: Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Congress government was fulfilling promises while simultaneously clearing debts and pending bills inherited from the BRS regime. He said around ₹1.76 lakh crore had been spent on farmers’ welfare in 1,000 days.
23. Congress MLA Rajagopal Reddy raises dissent: Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy alleged that original Congress leaders were being sidelined in favour of leaders who joined from other parties. He also said he would become Chief Minister in the future, highlighting continuing internal differences.
24. Tummala seeks farmer support: Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao urged the Centre to fix a ₹25,000 per quintal minimum guaranteed price for oil palm, increase procurement of pulses and oilseeds, support maize and sorghum procurement, expand micro-irrigation funding and sanction additional PMAY-G houses.
