Hyderabad, April 22 (ALI Abbas PMI) Mirchowk Police have apprehended a 29-year-old man in connection with a house theft case reported earlier this month in the Old City area. The accused, identified as Syed Ali Hussain, was arrested on Wednesday at Bibi Bazar Cross Road while allegedly attempting to flee after being spotted in suspicious circumstances.
The case (Crime No. 100/2026) was registered under Sections 305(a) and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Smt. Raziya Fatima (30), a homemaker residing at Bodh Ali Sha Kidki, Noorkhanbazar.
According to police, the complainant had left her residence along with her husband on April 10 to visit Hanumakonda. Upon returning on April 15 in the early morning, she discovered that unidentified persons had broken into her house and stolen a 32-inch television, a home theatre system, ₹5,000 in cash, and some household utensils.
During the course of the investigation, police personnel noticed a man carrying a television and a home theatre system in a suspicious manner near Bibi Bazar Cross Road on April 21. When officers attempted to approach him, he tried to escape but was swiftly apprehended. Upon verification, the items in his possession matched those reported stolen.
The police seized the stolen TV and home theatre system and brought the accused to Mirchowk Police Station, where he reportedly confessed to the crime. A detailed seizure panchanama was conducted as part of the investigation.
The case is being investigated by Detective Sub-Inspector Md. Mujtaba Ali Quasim, under the supervision of senior officials, including DCP Charminar Zone Khare Kiran Prabhakar, IPS, Addl. DCP M.A. Majeed and ACP Shyam Sunder.
