Hyderabad, Municipal Administration & Urban Development and Mining Minister K Taraka Rama Rao today warned of serious steps against illegal sand mining and directed the district administrations to keep a constant vigil to check the irregularities causing huge loss to the State exchequer. He said for the local requirements, consumers can book sand through Mee-Seva and for those who booked the sand, they will be supplied.
During a video conference, KTR asked the Collectors and SPs to take stern action against those who were illegally mining and transporting the sand. KTR instructed the officials to ensure that the common people should get the sand at a nominal price and maintain stocks for their use. He also said the sand stocks should be made available for the use of government works. The vehicles used for transportation of sand will be fixed with GPS, RFID tag to avoid irregularities, he maintained. “Use satellite technology for identifying the sand reaches and drone service to check illegal mining and transportation of sand, he added.
