Hyderabad, May 29. (Najaf Ali Shoukat -PMI) Hyderabad police have arrested seven persons, including Mujahid Alam Khan and his father, Mahboob Alam Khan, for allegedly conspiring to murder advocate Khaja Moizuddin in connection with long-standing Waqf property disputes.
Addressing the media, V. C. Sajjanar IPS, said the motive behind the murder was linked to prolonged disputes over Waqf properties and management issues in the Malakpet and Lakdikapul areas. According to police, several civil, criminal, and Waqf Tribunal cases had been pending between rival groups for many years.
Police alleged that Mujahid Alam Khan, along with his father, Mahboob Alam Khan, hatched a conspiracy to eliminate advocate Khaja Moizuddin by offering a contract amount of ₹15 lakh to hired assailants. The conspiracy was allegedly executed through intermediaries Hassan Ali alias Chaous, Muneer, and Kishan alias Pappu.
Investigators said Kishan later contacted Vinay, who allegedly formed the execution team by bringing in Abhijeeth alias Nani, Vikram alias Chintu, and Manideep alias Pogo Nani to carry out the murder. The accused reportedly conducted surveillance on the advocate’s movements for several months before executing the attack on May 23.
According to Commissioner Sajjanar, technical evidence helped police trace Kishan alias Pappu to Panipat in Haryana, where he was arrested on May 27 by a special police team. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the conspiracy and disclosed the involvement of the remaining accused.
Based on his confession and other technical evidence, police arrested Mujahid Alam Khan from his residence in Jubilee Hills, while the other accused were apprehended from different parts of Hyderabad.

Investigators revealed that Abhijeeth alias Nani was allegedly driving the Scorpio vehicle used during the offence, while Vinay arranged the execution team, procured the vehicle, and participated in planning and surveillance activities. Vikram, alias Chintu, allegedly acted as a link between the accused persons, while Manideep, alias Pogo Nani, accompanied Kishan during the execution of the crime.
Police seized the Scorpio vehicle used in the murder, cash amounting to ₹10.10 lakh, and several mobile phones from the accused. Officials said further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and gather additional evidence related to the conspiracy.
Commissioner Sajjanar further stated that police are also probing the involvement of Mahboob Alam Khan and Mujahid Alam Khan in other criminal cases, including previous murder attempt cases. The source of the money allegedly paid to the hired killers is also being verified.
He added that police would seek custody of all the accused for detailed interrogation and assured security to the family of advocate Khaja Moizuddin following reports of threats to them.
The Commissioner clarified that there was no political interference or pressure in the investigation and stated that the case was solved through a thorough scientific investigation. (pressmediaofindia.com)
