“Good Morals and Patience Are the Greatest Weapons: Tafseer Iqbal Assures Full Police Support for Muharram Observances”
Hyderabad, June 12 (Ali Abbas-PMI) Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar chaired a high-level coordination meeting on Friday to review security and logistical arrangements for the upcoming Muharram observances and the historic Bibi Ka Alam procession.
The meeting was held at the Salar Jung Museum auditorium and was attended by Shia religious leaders, public representatives, and senior officials from various government departments.
Coordination for Peaceful Conduct of Procession
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Sajjanar emphasized the need for close coordination among all departments to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Bibi Ka Alam procession, one of Hyderabad’s most significant Muharram events.
The procession will commence from the Bibi Ka Alam Ashoorkhana in Dabeerpura and proceed through Aitbar Chowk, Kotla Alijah, Panjesha, Mir Alam Mandi, Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Purani Haveli, and Darushifa before concluding at Masjid-e-Aliam.
Enhanced Security Measures
To maintain law and order during the procession, the police department will deploy additional police platoons along with personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF). Special monitoring will also be carried out by She Teams and Task Force units throughout the procession route.
Special Precautions for Procession Elephant
Authorities also discussed safety measures for the elephant that traditionally participates in the Bibi Ka Alam procession. Officials announced that a designated buffer zone will be maintained around the animal to ensure its safety and prevent overcrowding. Volunteers will be stationed along the route to stop devotees and spectators from approaching the elephant too closely.
The police assured that all necessary arrangements are being made to facilitate the peaceful observance of Muharram and the smooth conduct of the historic Bibi Ka Alam procession.
: Additional Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal, IPS, while paying tribute to Imam Hussain (AS), said that with the arrival of the upcoming Muharram, 1,387 years will have been completed since the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS).
He stated that there are two powerful weapons that can help resolve every challenge and difficulty: “good morals and patience.” Referring to the observance of mourning, he emphasized that grief should be commemorated in a manner that does not cause inconvenience or hardship to others.
Addressing the gathering, Tafseer Iqbal, IPS, said that the police department would extend every possible cooperation to the mourners and organizers of Muharram events. He appealed to the community to also cooperate with the police so that the Alam Mubarak procession could proceed on time and in an orderly manner.
He clarified that there is no restriction on mourning (matam) and assured participants that the police would facilitate the peaceful conduct of all Muharram observances.
Among those who also addressed the meeting were Charminar MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali, Riyaz-ul-Hasan Effendi, Maulana Waheeduddin Haider Akhbari, Maulana Mehdi Beheshti, Maulana Ali Haider Farishta, and Najaf Ali Shaukat, President of the Markaz Anjuman Matami Gurohaan, Telangana State.
