Hyderabad, April 26 (PMI): On suspicion of how the bar was being run without getting liquor from government liquor depots, Rangareddy District Prohibition and Excise Enforcement AES Jeevan Kiran along with his team conducted a surprise raid on Troops Bar in Ayyappa Society area on Thursday night. Satyanarayana and Puneeth Patnaik of Kukatpally were caught red-handed mixing cheap liquor in expensive liquor bottles.
The investigation revealed that the operators were not only not paying the license fee to the government, but were also purchasing liquor from wine shops in violation of the rules. Apart from this, the accused revealed during the investigation that they were removing the seals of expensive liquor bottles without arousing suspicion, filling half the liquor from it into another bottle, and filling that half bottle with water and cheap liquor. In these raids, the excise officials seized 75 adulterated liquor bottles and 55 empty liquor bottles worth Rs. 1.48 lakh.
Later, a case was registered against the bar owner Uday Kumar Reddy, the manager Satyanarayana who made the adulterated liquor, and the bar employee Puneeth Patnaik and a show cause notice was issued. The case was handed over to the Lingampalli excise station officials for further investigation. Meanwhile, the operators have not even renewed the license of ‘Troops Bar’. Moreover, they are running the bar without even taking liquor from the liquor depots.
