403 Drunk-Driving Cases Booked in Two-Day Special Drive by Hyderabad Traffic Police’ D. Joel Davis, IPS

Hyderabad’Dec 21 (PMI) The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day special drive against drunken driving on December 19 and 20, 2025, as part of efforts to enhance road safety in the city. During the drive, a total of 403 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to JT CP Traffic, D. Joel Davis, IPS, among those booked, 320 were two-wheeler riders, 23 were three-wheeler drivers, 59 were four-wheeler drivers, and one case involved another category of vehicle.

The Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) analysis revealed that 67 cases were recorded with BAC levels between 30–50, while the highest number of cases, 172, fell in the 51–100 range. Another 83 cases were booked with BAC levels between 101–150, followed by 46 cases in the 151–200 range. Additionally, 18 drivers were found with BAC levels between 201–250, eight cases between 251–300, and nine drivers recorded BAC levels above 300.

The Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk-and-drive violations and said that such special enforcement drives will continue in the interest of public safety.
