No Matter the Language… Filing a Complaint is Now Easier
Hyderabad Police Introduces ‘AI Copywriter’
India’s First AI-Based Multilingual Complaint Registration System
Hyderabad CP VC Sajjanar Launches the App
Hyderabad, May 25 (PMI)-NajF Ali Shoukat,) Adding cutting-edge technology to the policing system, Hyderabad City Police has taken another historic step forward. To eliminate language barriers faced by victims visiting police stations and to ensure quick and accurate complaint registration, Hyderabad City Police has introduced, for the first time in India, an artificial intelligence-based mobile application called AI Copywriter.
The AI Copywriter app was launched on Saturday at TGICCC in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Shri VC Sajjanar, IPS, who also reviewed its functioning.
The app will soon be available in more than 80 police stations across the city. Through this application, police personnel can instantly record and translate complaints narrated by victims in their native languages.
In a metropolitan city like Hyderabad, migrant workers and tourists from other states who do not know Telugu or English often face severe difficulties while lodging complaints. Due to language barriers, delays in FIR registration, and incorrect recording of information frequently occur. This app is expected to eliminate such issues. The application is capable of recognizing more than 10 major Indian languages. Hyderabad City Police developed this innovative app in collaboration with BlueCloud SoftTech Solutions and intern Pagro Chandu.
Key Features:
* Multilingual Convenience:
If a person speaks in any of the 10 supported languages, such as Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, or Marathi, the app instantly converts the speech into written text and translates it into a language understandable to the police.
* Speed and Accuracy:
The complaint process, which usually takes hours, can now be completed within seconds. There is no need to wait for translators.
* Transparency:
Details such as the officer recording the complaint and the time of recording are automatically embedded in PDF format, preventing any possibility of tampering with records.
* Multi-Party Labeling:
The app separately identifies and records statements made by victims, accused persons, and witnesses.
Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad CP Shri VC Sajjanar, IPS, said it is a matter of pride that Hyderabad Police has introduced India’s first AI-based multilingual complaint recorder as part of integrating advanced technology into policing.
He stated: “Hyderabad is a global city with many migrants from other states and foreigners who may not know Telugu or English. This app will eliminate problems such as delays in filing complaints or incorrect recording of information due to language barriers. If a victim speaks in their mother tongue, the app instantly recognizes, translates, and converts it into an official record. Information gets updated every five seconds during speech.
This technology will especially increase confidence in police services among migrant workers, women, and senior citizens. Since every word spoken by victims is recorded accurately, the quality of investigations will improve, thereby increasing the chances of conviction of accused persons. It also reduces the typing burden on police officers and ensures uniform record management.”
He expressed confidence that the AI Copywriter, introduced with the aim that language should never become a barrier to justice, would mark the beginning of a new chapter in modern policing. He added that the Hyderabad City Police is committed to providing faster and better public services through smart policing by effectively utilizing technology.
The launch event was attended by Additional CP (Crimes & SIT) M. Srinivasulu, IPS, Additional CP (Law & Order) Tafseer Iqbal, IPS, DCP (SMIT) CH Rupesh, IPS, IT Cell Inspector Ramesh, representatives of BlueCloud SoftTech Solutions, and others.
Artificial Intelligence Driving Modern City Policing
As part of bringing revolutionary changes to modern policing methods, Hyderabad City Police has been extensively utilizing AI technology. To improve efficiency in maintaining law and order, the department is prioritizing technology-driven governance.
As part of these initiatives, the police department has already successfully implemented AI technology in “C-Mitram” for accurately preparing cybercrime complaints. AI is also being used in assigning duties to City Armed Reserve personnel. Replacing the earlier manual process, this automated system ensures unbiased staff postings and enhances transparency in the system.
To identify content on social media that could disturb public peace, Hyderabad Police introduced an AI-based app called “SAC-Eye.” Besides continuously monitoring online content, it plays a crucial role in detecting posts that threaten the safety of women and children.
Now, the complaint registration process has also been integrated with AI through the development of the AI Copywriter app. This will enable complaints submitted by the public to be registered more quickly and systematically. (pressmediaofindia.com)
