Hyderabad, August 31 (PMI): Mirza Rahmat Baig has reportedly become a “problem” not only for AIMIM president Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi but also for several prominent businessmen and investors in the city. His removal and expulsion from the party, along with the decision to seek his resignation as a Member of the Telangana Legislative Council, created considerable stir not only within party circles but also among prominent personalities, particularly young businessmen and investors.
However, many had believed that Rahmat Baig, regarded as a highly trusted associate of Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi and someone considered his “eyes, ears and nose,” could never even think of acting against the party or disregarding the party president’s instructions. It was reportedly because of this trust that several leading businessmen and investors in the city developed close dealings with him.
Following his expulsion, these businessmen and investors are now reportedly trying to locate Rahmat Baig to resolve their personal and business-related matters. AIMIM legislators, corporators and party workers have also apparently taken on the responsibility of trying to trace him.
According to reports, several businessmen and prominent individuals are seeking contact with the expelled MLC in an effort to settle various transactions and pending matters. Senior AIMIM leaders have made it clear to businessmen and other prominent personalities that the party has no connection with Rahmat Baig’s personal affairs and has formally distanced itself from him following his expulsion.
Rahmat Baig has also reportedly been instructed to meet the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council and submit his resignation. However, according to the report, he has ignored the party president’s direction and has remained out of contact with people for the past three days.
Sources said that, owing to Rahmat Baig’s close association with and loyalty to the AIMIM president, several businessmen had placed the same level of trust in him as they did in Owaisi himself. They are now reportedly unsettled by the situation and are reluctant to raise their grievances directly with the party president. They have instead been informed that any personal dealings with Rahmat Baig are entirely separate from the party.
People who had established business relationships with Rahmat Baig said his direct involvement in several transactions and financial dealings had led investors to place a high degree of confidence in him. They claimed that whenever he proposed a business deal, people generally accepted the offer without hesitation and, in some cases, even encouraged other partners and investors to join the transactions.
The developments have reportedly left several businessmen and investors seeking clarity over their dealings with Rahmat Baig following his expulsion from the party. (pressmediaofindia.com)
