Protest in Hyderabad Against Rising Fake Encounters

Hyderabad, Nov 20 (PMI) A significant roundtable meeting was held on Wednesday at the Communist Party of India (CPI) office in Hyderabad, strongly condemning alleged fake encounters against Maoists.

The meeting was attended by CPI state secretary Konamneni Sambasiva Rao, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goar, Virasam leader Professor Hara Gopal, TJS chief Professor Kodandaram, Justice Chandra Kumar, Jola Kanti Ranga Reddy, and renowned revolutionary singer and activist Malakka.

Konamneni Sambasiva Rao alleged that the central government is adopting “cruel and inhuman methods” against Maoists and that innocent individuals are being killed in the name of fake encounters. He stated that the government is violating its own security policies and that society must raise its voice against it.

TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goar said that most past encounters have been proven “fake,” and emphasized that the Congress has always opposed violence. “No one has the right to take another person’s life. Even if governments do not agree with a particular ideology, leaders like Hadma, Kishore Rao, and Tirupati have continued to work for the people,” he added.

He further alleged that the BJP-led central government is operating under corporate pressure, targeting left-leaning groups, and handing over mineral resources in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand to corporate entities. He also claimed illegal voter deletions in favor of the NDA in Bihar.

TJS chief Professor Kodandaram stressed that political movements cannot be ended through violence. “Individuals can be killed, but not ideologies. The law does not give anyone the right to kill,” he said. He accused the central government of ignoring NHRC guidelines on encounter investigations and said that adopting “inhuman and unconstitutional methods” amounts to a crime.

At the end of the meeting, a joint action plan was announced, including an all-party sit-in on Friday near the Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund and a state-wide signature campaign to demand an end to fake encounters.

If you want, I can also condense it into a shorter, punchy news article suitable for publication. That version would read more like a standard media report. Do you want me to do that? (pressmediaofindia.com)
