GAZA STRIP: Medical sources tell media that at least 64 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since dawn on Friday.
The UN’s World Food Program issues an urgent warning that “Gaza needs food now” as hundreds of thousands of people are at risk of hunger.
A journalist in Gaza says people in the war-torn territory are “psychologically broken” amid unrelenting Israeli bombing and having no food for their children due to the Israeli blockade on aid supplies.
Gaza’s Health Ministry says at least 51,065 Palestinians have been confirmed dead and 116,505 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza since it began 18 months ago.
The Gaza Government Media Office updated its death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead. At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attacks, and more than 200 were taken captive.
Israeli human rights group Yesh Din has warned that Israel’s army is working in coordination with settlers to establish an illegal farm “outpost” near the Palestinian village of Turmus Aya, located in the occupied West Bank’s Ramallah and el-Bireh governorates.
The rights group, which works in the occupied territory, said illegal settler outposts throughout the Shiloh Valley area have in recent days received caravans and prefabricated homes, “in what appears to be a coordinated operation” with the military.
“Once again, the army is cooperating with settlers to establish illegal farm outposts that use violence to expel Palestinians from their lands under the protection of the state,” Yesh Din said in a post on social media.
Palestinian Christians living in Gaza marked Good Friday this week but it was a second successive year of sombre celebrations, overshadowed by Israel’s continued military aggression.
Many Christians in the besieged enclave say that despite the circumstances, their faith remains strong.
Journalist Hani Mahmoud reports from Gaza City:
Israeli forces have stormed Fawwar camp, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, and launched an arrest campaign, the Palestinian Information Center reports.
About 30 Palestinians have been arrested during the storming of the camp, local sources have told media.
Israeli military raids have been reported in other locations across the occupied West Bank over recent hours, including; the town of Idhna, west of Hebron, the town of Sa’ir, north of Hebron, the town of Yabad, southwest of Jenin.
As Palestinian Christians in Gaza marked Good Friday, Israeli attacks on the territory killed dozens, including a strike on a camp in Gaza City sheltering people who were forcibly displaced.
A separate attack on a camp in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis killed six people, including four children.
Footage reportedly showing the incident, which took place in the occupied West Bank town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus, shows Israeli military vehicles blocking a Palestinian Red Crescent Society ambulance.
An Israeli soldier then exits his vehicle, before pointing his weapon at the ambulance and forcing it to turn around
The death toll from attacks reflects the dramatic air strikes that claimed the lives of 50 people so far, including children and women. (Int’l Monitoring Desk)
