The arrested persons have been identified as Usikela Vijay (35), a finance collection agent from Nizamabad, and Ambam Murali (54), an electrician, also a resident of Nizamabad. Police said the duo lured victims by falsely claiming influence with politicians and public officials and assuring allotment of government double-bedroom houses in and around Hyderabad.
According to Dr. B. Balaswamy, IPS, DCP East Zone, the accused collected large sums of money from victims in cash and through online transactions and later issued fabricated 2BHK house allotment letters bearing forged signatures of government officials along with counterfeit seals and stamps.
The case came to light following a complaint lodged on September 11, 2025, by Smt. S. Saraswathi (51), a social worker residing at Badi Chowdi, Koti. She stated that the prime accused met her at a Mudiraj community gathering at Gun Foundry and introduced the second accused as an Assistant Director in the Telangana State Housing Corporation. Trusting their claims, she and 18 others allegedly paid money for house allotments.
Police said the accused cheated the victims to the tune of ₹39 lakh. Based on the complaint, a case was registered in Crime No. 211/2025 under Sections 406, 420, 468, 471 read with 34 of the IPC at Sultan Bazar Police Station.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Dr. B. Balaswamy, IPS, DCP East Zone; Sri J. Narsaiah, Additional DCP East Zone; Sri M. Mattaiah, ACP Sultan Bazar; and Sri K. Narasimha, SHO Sultan Bazar.
Police suspect the accused may be involved in similar cheating cases in other parts of Hyderabad and elsewhere. They will be taken into police custody for further interrogation to ascertain their role in other offences, officials said.(pressmediaofindia.com)
