He said had India not forgotten its own 9/11, the 2001 catastrophic terror attack on the US could have been avoided. Prime Minister said it’s high time to understand that the 9/11 of 1893 that is Swami Vivekanand’s historic address which was about love and brotherhood.
He said, the 9/11 of 1893 was about love, harmony and brotherhood unlike the one of 2001 which was about destruction and hatred.
Mr Modi was addressing a gathering of students and youth in New Delhi to mark 125th year of Swami Vivekanand’s historic speech and Deendayal Upadhyay’s centenary celebrations.
Prime Minister said while Swami Vivekananda spoke highly about India and Indian religion in the US, he also did candid speaking and had attacked social evils in India strongly.
In this context, Prime Minister said, the contemporary Indians who litter around the towns and cities do not have right to raise the slogan ‘Vande Mataram’.
