Hyderabad, Oct. 11 (Najaf ali Shoukat-PMI): Newly appointed Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Sri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, conducted his first video conference with officers from all wings and police stations, including Law & Order and Traffic, after assuming charge.
Addressing the officers, the Commissioner commended their efforts over the past six months and urged them to maintain the same spirit and discipline to enhance the reputation of the Hyderabad City Police.
“The Hyderabad Commissionerate is one of the oldest and most respected in the country. Let us work together to uphold its prestige and bring further glory to the State of Telangana,” he said.
He stressed the importance of professionalism, public interaction, and accountability in police conduct. The Commissioner warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against negligent personnel, adding, “It is unacceptable for anyone to take the law into their own hands.”
Highlighting the need for citizen-centric policing, Sri Sajjanar reminded officers that their behavior towards the public directly influences the department’s image. “We must act with respect and empathy. Our response to complainants defines public trust,” he noted.
To motivate personnel, he announced the launch of an innovative recognition scheme — the ‘Extra Mile Reward’ program — to honor officers who display exceptional dedication and humanitarian service beyond their routine duties. Under this initiative, every Saturday, deserving staff will receive a certificate of appreciation and a reward.
The Commissioner also urged officers to strengthen intelligence gathering, combat drug trafficking effectively, and ensure severe punishment for offenders. He directed all units, including She Teams, to work diligently to protect women and children, and called upon the Traffic Police to introduce creative measures to ease congestion and reduce travel time in the city.
“Use technology efficiently, bring your suggestions directly to me, and take care of your health while managing work stress,” he advised.
Sri Sajjanar appreciated the outstanding performance of several officers — SIs Sudhakar, Shobha, Saikanth, and Shivakumar for solving a recent child murder case under Madannapet PS limits; Afzal Gunj SHO Ravi, Admin SI Niranjan, and ASI Dharmender for rescuing destitute persons and relocating them to the ‘Amma Nanna Ashram’; and Film Nagar Head Constable Vijaya Sudhakar and Constable Surender for apprehending an accused after 30 years.
The meeting was attended in person by Sri Tafseer Iqubal, IPS (Joint CP–Law & Order), Smt. Parimala Hana Nutan, IPS (Joint CP–Admin), Smt. K. Apoorva Rao, IPS (DCP–Special Branch), and Smt. Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, IPS (DCP–Headquarters).
