NEW DELHI: Nov 2(PMI)The national capital woke up to choking air on Sunday as its air quality slipped deeper into the ‘very poor’ category, primarily due to weak wind conditions that restricted the dispersal of pollutants, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Data from the CPCB showed Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) climbing to 386, a steep rise from 303 recorded on Saturday.
The Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) reported that wind speeds fell below 8 kmph from the northwest during the evening and night, resulting in limited dispersion of pollutants over the city.
Experts have cautioned that the situation may worsen in the coming days unless wind speeds pick up or there is rainfall to help clear the stagnant air.(pressmediaofindia.com)
