Hyderabad: Famous Balapur Ganapathi Laddu in the city was auctioned for Rs 18.90 lakhs on the last day of immersion. YCP MLA Ramesh Goud of Proddutur in Kadapa District and his partner Marri Shashank Reddy in Hyderabad bought the laddu of Balapur Ganesh pandal here in an auction. There was a big gathering of the devotees and the people to see the auction process with enthusiasm.
Due to the corona pandemic, the festival was not held in 2020, and in 2019, it was auctioned for Rs 17 lakhs.
After winning the auction, the MLA said that he is happy to bag the laddu. I will present the Laddu to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he informed media persons. The MLA said that he prayed to Lord Ganesha for the well-being of the people of two Telugu States. Shashank Reddy said they were fortunate to win the Balapur Ganesh Laddu.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the Ganesh Festival was not held in 2020 and people were confined to homes due to lockdown and corona protocols.
Later the Balapur Ganesh was taken on a Shobha Yatra towards Tank Bund for immersion by around 7 pm. The officials made necessary arrangements for smooth movement of the idols as many other Ganesh idols came for immersion in Hussain Sagar Lake and other lakes in the twin cities as per arrangements.
