Warasiguda Police Crack Brutal Murder Case; Accused Arrested Within 48 Hours. DCP East Zone B. Bala Swamy, IPS

Hyderabad, Dec 10 (Shoukat-PMI) The Warasiguda Police have successfully solved a gruesome murder case reported on December 8, 2025, at Bapuji Nagar in Musheerabad, where a 19-year-old girl, Pavitra, was brutally killed by her distant relative, Dukka Uma Shanker. The accused was arrested on December 10 and produced before the court for judicial remand.

According to  DCP East Zone B. Bala Swamy, IPS,  the complaint lodged by Smt. Jadaga Laxmi, the victim’s mother, and the family had migrated from Srikakulam district and were living in Bapuji Nagar while working as daily-wage labourers. Pavitra and her younger sister accompanied their parents to Vijayawada on December 6 to fulfil a religious vow. The family returned home at 10 PM on December 7.

The next afternoon, at around 12:15 PM, accused Uma Shanker — who had proposed marriage to Pavitra a year ago — arrived at their residence unannounced. He questioned the family for travelling to Vijayawada without informing him. Pavitra confronted him for repeatedly calling her in an intoxicated state and harassing her, stating she no longer liked his behaviour.

While the discussion escalated, the complainant briefly went to drink water. At this moment, the accused pulled out a knife he had carried with him and stabbed Pavitra on her throat, causing her death on the spot. He then threw his knife and mobile phone before fleeing.

The stabbing occurred around 1:30 PM, after which the Warasiguda Police immediately launched an investigation. CCTV footage from various routes proved crucial in tracking the accused’s movements. On December 10, police identified him near Skandagiri Temple, Chilkalguda, and apprehended him at his brother’s residence around 10:10 AM.

During interrogation, Uma Shanker confessed to the murder, stating he killed Pavitra because she rejected him. In the presence of five witnesses, the police recovered ₹1,10,000 cash, a Realme smartphone, and a wallet belonging to the deceased, which contained her Aadhaar card, PAN card, SBI Rupay Card, and Central Bank Rupay Card.

The accused, aged 24, works as a tiles labourer and hails from Srikakulam district.

Senior officers including DCP East Zone B. Bala Swamy, IPS, Addl. DCP J. Narsaiah and ACP K. Shashank Reddy appreciated the swift efforts of the police team and announced that the officers involved would be suitably rewarded.(pressmediaofindia.com)
